Business is 50% Mindset, 50% Strategy, never underestimate the power of your thoughts…

Unlocking Success: How to Master Your Business Mindset as a Professional Organiser

Success in business goes beyond effective planning and execution. One often underestimated yet crucial element is the right mindset. Your mindset shapes your approach to challenges, influences decision-making, and ultimately determines your business’s trajectory.

I will walk you through a few key strategies to master your business mindset, specifically for professional organisers and service-based business owners. One of my favourite quotes of all time to live by is this: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.” – Henry Ford.

So let’s jump in…

How To Master Your Business Mindset As a Professional Organiser Pro Organiser Academy

1. Set Clear Goals

Something I’ve learned over the years is how important goal-setting is. But I have to admit, I often have to force myself to do this because I’m busy and I always have multiple projects on the go, but I’ve come to realise that there’s actually nothing more important than planning and goal setting! I now block out time every week and month to do this so that nothing can be booked in it’s place.

So, begin your journey or make it a priority to define clear and achievable goals. Understand what success looks like for your business and break it own into manageable action steps. This clarity helps you stay focused and motivated, aiding a positive, rather than a defeatist mindset. If you don’t know how to do it and want help, have a look at my Business Strategy Sessions.

2. Less Fixed, More Growth

Someone with a growth mindset thinks thoughts like I can become whoever I want it’s just going to take a bit of effort. Someone with a fixed mindset thinks thoughts like I am who I am and I will never be anything else, end of story.

Create a growth mindset by viewing challenges as opportunities for learning and improvement. Embracing a positive attitude towards setbacks allows you to adapt to changes and continuously evolve your business strategies.

Everything happens for a reason and sometimes when things seem like bit of a failure, it’s actually an opportunity. In the last two years alone countless things haven’t gone as well as I’d hoped, but in hindsight, I have learned so much and had I not taken the leap, I would still be sat twiddling my thumbs wondering, having achieved absolutely nothing. Instead, I’ve taken action, learned, adapted, improved, tweaked, taken on board feedback and built a rapidly growing business.

See everything as an opportunity rather than a failure.

3. Build A Supportive Network

Surround yourself with like-minded people who understand the nuances of your industry. Networking with fellow professional organisers and service-based business owners can provide valuable insight, encouragement, and a shared understanding of the challenges you face. Being self-employed can often be a lonely existence, even if you have a supportive partner, sometimes they just don’t get it! Tom tries his hardest to be supportive, but he is the first to admit he is a bit of a dinosaur and has no idea what a launch, a workflow or a Trello board is. The Members Club is a great place to find motivation, support, accountability and friendship, click here to join the waitlist to be notified when doors open in 2024.

4. Invest In Continuous Learning

What do I always say? Learn more to earn more! Stay ahead of the curve by investing in your education and skill development. Attend business workshops, live programs, and industry conferences to stay informed about the latest trends and best practices. The more you know, the more confident and adaptable your business mindset becomes. Not only that, you can learn how to set up systems and tech to scale your business with digital products, courses and virtual declutter coaching giving you more time and financial freedom.

There are infinite possibilities within the professional organising industry to scale without the messiness of hiring a team of organisers and getting involved with PAYE or any other headaches (can you tell scaling in that way is a hell no from me?) I’ve politely rejected many offers from newbie or hopeful organisers to work with me in The Space Creator. The Key To List Building Success will set you up for success if you’re looking to scale in the online world.

5. Practice Mindfulness & Stress Management

Running a business can be stressful, but maintaining a healthy mindset requires effective stress management. There is a risk of working late into the night and frankly all hours of the day when you own the show, especially if you’re expanding, I regularly fall into this trap! Try to incorporate mindfulness and regular breaks into your routine for good mental well-being. Even 5 minutes of visualisation, dreaming of achieving your goals will work wonders and this is something I try to do every morning and night even if I have no real breaks in the day! (naughty)

“Mastering your business mindset is a journey that requires commitment and intentional effort.”

By setting clear goals, embracing a growth mindset, building a supportive network, investing in continuous learning, and practicing mindfulness, you can position yourself for long-term success.
